Notes to my (Younger) Self
My 20th college reunion happened…. 2 years ago! I didn’t attend physically (I was totally there in spirit) because I wasn’t feeling positive about my body. Another story for another time but it got me thinking about how differently things would have gone if I knew then what I know now.
I thought, “I bet other folks feel this way too” and reached out to my Facebook community to get their input. The advice I thought was for college students and young professionals applies to everyone, everyday.
Follow your dreams.
Do the best you can.
Have fun.
Take a chance/risk. Embrace every opportunity to experience new things.
Study what you love and don’t worry what you’ll do with it (after you graduate).
If you want it bad enough you can do it.
Learning doesn’t only take place in the classroom. Be involved, participate, five of yourself.
Travel, see other cultures up close, learn all the good the world has to offer.
Take advantage of every adventure, (create) memorable events and (experience) weird people that come your way.
Focus on the journey, not just the destination.
You will have good days and bad days.
Be kind and be brave.
You can ALWAYS change your mind - in every situation. If it doesn’t feel good, then don’t stay with it.
Would love to hear any advice you'd give to young folks in the comments below.
Love,
~jen gotti :)
