I Love Lucy & The Secret to Change

Have you seen the episode of I Love Lucy where she and Ethel go to work in a chocolate factory? [If not, here's the link to the episode: http://www.cbs.com/shows/i_love_lucy/video/1861714982/i-love-lucy-job-switching.]

The episode is called "Job Switching" because the ladies go to work while Ricky and Fred stay home and take care of the housekeeping. The ladies get in over their heads and the hijinx (I love that word) begin.  The episode completely cracks me up! Haven't we all been in a situation where things start out rosy and then we start shoving chocolates in our hat?!

Transitions can be tricky. Transitions can also be miraculous.

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old but on building the new." -Socrates

While in the midst of transition it is tempting to look in the rearview mirror. Leaving the "comfort of the known" - even if it was truly uncomfortable is unsettling to our systems. What if the future doesn't bring me ______ (fill in your worry here: money, happiness, balance, etc.)?  [pssst: what if it did?! and then some!?]

Staying present and questioning fearful thoughts (is that true?!) keeps us grounded and our energy moving in a positive direction. Why wouldn't the future be as wonderful as we imagine it to be?  :)
